LEG - Local Energy Community (from 2026)

General information about LEG

The LEG - Local Energy Community - is a legal entity that makes it possible to offer locally produced electricity within a regional energy grid.

The LEG has not yet been finalised, but is to be made possible from 2026.

The participants are limited to the regional grid, but can use grid components of the DSO for transmission in return for a grid utilisation tariff.

This will make it possible to offer the locally produced electricity from one building to another building in this grid for sale.

In this case, the grid operator is not responsible for pricing the solar energy within the LEG; the grid operator simply charges a grid utilisation tariff per kWh transferred for the transferred energy.

The LEG is regulated and billed privately. However, it can use the meter infrastructure of the local DSO for a rental fee and import it via the data hub (same as in vZEV)

Details on future implementation with smart-me will follow.
